Happy valentine's day! and new year!
most girls' idea of a perfect wonderful valentine is to have a date, to receive flowers/gifts, brought out for a dinner (like fine boring dining), walk along the streets with your inanimated conquests and a living one. i pretty much have that pre-conceived kind of thoughts too. then i figure we should just save the money for an overseas trip! it's a very strong motivation.
this year is somewhat different. coupled with one of our most important occasions of all-time, the Chinese New Year, i half-expected it was gonna be a bane. True enough, by the time we can meet finally, its night time! after much deliberation, we settled with watching Percy Jackson at tampines mall with drk and jo. super crowded even though it was a late show..
maybe the best part about the night was the rummaging through the popcorn for sweet and salted ones. i love salted while dessyboy prefers sweet. haha! of cos the movie was not bad too... in short, our time was sweet and enjoyable. we had our favourite cheese mushroom prata at jln kayu before going home. teehee.
and i see the pictures done up by dessyboy! the intention and effort :) looking forward to our mahjong session rawrrrr.

Remembrance
this post, is in memory of my grandfather who passed away on 15 Nov.. he was 85.
he was a man with little words, many times he spoke, were to ask us to eat, have we eaten, u know the usual things grandparents will talk about.. he had a voice which befits his strength at his age.. i stayed with him in our old house for 15 years, he would play masak with us, pretend to eat the food we cooked with the toys, brought us back from school, cook us porridge for lunch, every year birthday he gave us red packets.. and every chinese new year, he donned his black jacket with white singlet and black pants.. thats his standard dressing even when he went marketing. every sunday, he would walk to the corridor to see us off.. and slowly recently, he din and stayed in his room most of the time.. we din even realise that.
he was admitted tues morning after vomitting blood.. most of the time he was in icu, and we could only see him two person a time.. the first day i visited, it was such a heart wrenching sight, to see him in tubes... the beeping of the machine made me even scared becos i'm afraid to do anything that will affect his vital signs.. so sad, his face was pale, he had difficulty breathing.. when we entered the room, his eyes wandered slowly, could see he was very drowsy yet fighting to see us.. the next few days followed. the doc there basically gave us different information on 2 different days, which left us on a rollercoaster ride.. on fri, they took him off ventilator without telling us prior and on the contrary to wut they had said. seems that they have given up on his condition.. in any case, i felt the hosp was rather irresponsible and did a poor job.. during these period, i kept thinking and thinking, grabbing to hold onto wutever memories i have of him, hoping it keeps him alive and to give us strength.. sat night we went back twice to the hosp cos the nurse called saying he's in bad shape, and his breathing wasn't good at all.. but still we hoped he would recover..
he could talk the past few days, and asked us to go back and eat our meals.. he even had strength to pull off the tubes after he was out of icu.. and we had to tie him so he could not disrupt the tubes by himself... on his last day, his eyes kept looking upwards elsewhere, and ask wut time was it.. he kept asking for water.. and after his breathing stabilised, we left.. we tot he was fine, and we kept telling him we will bring him home... while i was asleep, i got the call and i knew it wasn't good.. tts when my dad said my grandpa had passed away in the morning...
after his death, we looked thru his stuff.. he kept a lot of newspaper cuttings on health issues, letters from his late mother which was written ages ago since 1940s-50s... read thru some of them, somehow he seemed like a very sentimental, filial son... we saw his photos of his younger years when he just landed in singapore, and those evoked very fond memories of him as a grandfather to all of us. some stories of him we heard for the first time, some funny ones, some that reminded us of his strength, thriftiness and kindness.. of course we were very very sad and his sudden death was hard to come to terms with, but still, we hope he has gone to a place with no pain or suffering... where someday we might meet again.
`Rest in peace, ah gong.

The Way I Am
If you were falling, then I would catch you
You need a light, I'd find a match
Cuz I love the way you say good morning
And you take me the way I am
If you are chilly, here take my sweater
Your head is aching; I'll make it better
Cuz I love the way you call me baby
And you take me the way I am
I'd buy you Rogaine when you start losing all your hair
Sew on patches to all you tear
Cuz I love you more than I could ever promise
And you take me the way I am
You take me the way I am
You take me the way I am
If you were falling, then I would catch you
You need a light, I'd find a match
Cuz I love the way you say good morning
And you take me the way I am

time passes so fast! it's gonna be september soon.
came back from BKK few months ago, got sick and went thru the whole H1N1-scare/check, gone back to work feeling lost touch, settling down in a new office setup albeit just 1 floor down... hehe. BKK was super duper fun and shiok. we stayed at baiyoke sky and platinum mall is jus abt 10mins walk away. the breakfast buffet everyday was not bad but the only gripe is it ends at 10.. psstt so early.. and the smell gets onto my hair. i like our big room! the hotel also has a viewing balcony at the top of the hotel, and its a good feeling to see the sunset... 6 days not enough eh, from platinum to ctc to central to suan lom and going back these places again.
although the weather is very very hot, we managed to sweep alot of stuff. the clothes are nice basically most of them are cheap cos of the wholesale idea.. i got a VW wallet too! we also tried dinner at zense, very yummy and affordable for the ambience and restaurant dining! i miss the souffle and choco fondant..... we hope to return to BKK again soon!
this year we got tickets to ndp preview, as usual, just go to see see and get the goodie bag ah. hahah.. the hearty torch is good! and so are some of the food vouchers. had my commencement ceremony and took many pics... only when u grad u will realise how great it is not having to worry/stress abt sch work cos i'm not very smart or getting kuku/super-enthu groupmates, getting disgusted over ppl from those stupid clubs, whether i fall behind my cohort, or if i can find a job with the average grades.. all worries gone!!
1 peeve now is tt there are some ppl who were very kp from last time and are still the same. cant believe they didnt change, and probably become scheming, not wasting any chance to put others down with their words. :o i still think those who kp too much are empty on the inside.
then the weeks passed by with me doing weekend duty, us going for movies (Up and Hangover), chilling at prive, eating ah chew dessert and also cheese mushroom prata at jalan kayu with des. i tried werner's oven for the first time and the food is delicious. love the farmer's sausage and carbonara... haha.
then, i extracted 3 teeth at a go for my braces.. quite bogeh now. i hope they straighten up sooon. but according to stats from the ppl ard me who did, the gaps are still closing after a few mths. zzz.. the painkiller was damn good, i din feel a pain after taking it. heee. this whole week at work is gonna be a breeze hopefully.
coveting the new iphone 3gs now... have registered my interest. hope they get back to me by next month! so excited hiakk. but will be getting the one without the internet bundle cos i jus bought the mobilebb plan. i feel like joining baking classes!
`so now.. i'm thinking about our special september <3

Sawadeekap!
went platinum mall most of the times, ctc and suan lom. actually we jus spent everyday shopping and eating! hence, cant really remb exactly for each details.
left our luggage at Baiyoke Sky. our room is very big, at 39th floor, with huge toilets (bath and shower separately!) we came back to check in and put our shopping stuff. went to Suan Lom night market.. bought a few pairs of heels and some tops!
we went to platinum and central and zense on friday. zense was wonderful! nice ambience and music. delicious food! love the chocolate souffle, fondant and refresh & refuel drink! hahaha.. and super cheap ah, we ordered a big pizza to share and each of us had our own main courses, came down only abt sgd100 i guess?
went Chatuchak on both weekends. it was very hot as usual there, but alot of things to buy too. headed to siam square area.. ate the jap curry rice and katsudon and the blended matcha with red beans. super yummy ah!
the f1 Alonso taxi driver, the delicious food, the cheap clothes.
had a leg and back massage on 1 night, quite cheap and damn shiok ahh.. after the massage, my legs felt like its walking on clouds hehehe.. so light!
the viewing balcony at the highest of our hotel was quite a sight, except they could probably deco it nicer? wahaha.. but i enjoyed the wind, the sunset, the citylights.
we tried coca steamboat for dinner and definitely better than the shabu shabu.. quality wise and variety was much better, the oyster omelette yummy! its quite savoury with sauce and big oysters, not so dry compared to back home.. must try!
last day, fret over whether to buy the UP movie cup which has a 3D house & balloon on the cover.. but must buy with popcorn and drinks. we ate quite full at manhattan fish market and was hoping that singapore might have! (on hindsight i shld have bought cos i waited in vain here)... my only regret :( but anyway the manhattan's meal was very cheap and not bad ahh.. haha..
1 of the best part of the trip is to sit on the bed after a whole day of shopping!
i miss bkk and would love to go there again! just to eat and stock up on clothes! NEXT YEAR!

FWD: looking
in less than a month's time, we'll be heading to bkk with drk and jo! an escapade from the work stress, an adventure for food and shopping.
des found out about this hotel just recently and it's so pretty the rooms and concept as well. gee, maybe we should go another short trip just to stay hereeee.. hahaha.. camp inside the room and picnic.

hmm. anyway i'm on braces now, feels like i'm on some strict diet. i hope i've lost some weight but i went to check and it's not much a diff. zzz. no sweets no chocs no biscuits, and i cant eat as shiok as before... now i realise the gratification of biting properly. so hopefully after 2 years i can begin living as a normal person. wahaha. i have a big feeling i need to extract some teeth, sooner or later, urghh.
but i am a happy person now :)
`4 years later, we can go to the city of romance <3

Pinnacle
it grows. stronger, deeper most of the days.. the love i have for u, still culminating.perhaps u're not like others, u have been so endearing to me.
everyday i have the urge to live a life together, although strictly speaking we are, but not exactly yet. sheesh.
sometimes i question myself if this is love, because it definitely feels more than what love is supposedly perceived (when i was much younger) and what it does to me. absolutely much more. the unselfishness, the thoughts i have about u, the importance of ur existence since, and how it makes me cringe to think about anything undesiringly impossible that could happen to u or me, or us.
utterly sweet with wut u do, every little thing.
